In the spirit of BEE Seasands Conference Centre cc was registered on the 2nd August 2006 with a 21% black shareholding. A copy of the registration of the CC together with the founding statement is available for perusal. From the founding statement it is clear hat our intention is not to enrich one or more individuals but to use part of the profit generated by the conference centre for the upliftment of black youth. This process is well under way and our main beneficiary to date is the Ikhwezi Crèche on the outskirts of Mtubatuba. The crèche looks after about 40 little ones and had no security no water and very basic “long drop” toilets. The 2.5 acre plot has been fenced in and gated to safeguard the toddlers; the rather dilapidated building has been plastered and painted; the floor tiled; water piped onto the property; a 1500 litre water tank erected on a 3 meter stand and a bathroom and proper toilets built and installed.
The next phase of building a kitchen and dining room was recently completed and furnished. Children attending the Creche facility has grown from 40 to 90 odd.

As part of their Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) responsibilities companies are getting involved in social upliftment programs and here the possibilities are endless. We have had Companies/groups sponsor for example a boat safari on Lake St. Lucia for children from Duku-Duku and Khula Village. These children have never been on a boat or barge and the absolute joy and wonderment they experience makes even the hardiest of men soft and misty eyed. Soccer fields need goal post’s, crèche’s /orphanages need shelter, toilets, furniture, water, fencing, jungle gyms, a coat of paint etc, etc and etc.
Mrs Thembe Kuzwayo a member of the Seasands Conference Centre cc is the leader of this project and may be contacted at 035 5500440 or 0769960831 for further information. For the BEE charter to be successful we need the support of all who believe in the BEE idea. We at Seasands are ready to play our part and now await a positive response from businesses and other parties in order to continue down, what we consider the BEE road.
