Typical weekend Birding Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive, check-in and join us later for a welcome cocktail drink at 18h00

20 minute Orientation Presentation in the conference Auditorium on St. Lucia Wetland Park including birding prospects

Executive Lounge & bar open for drinks

20h00 - Dinner at the in-house Indaba Restaurant - A-La-Carte Menu (Click here To View Our Dinner A-La-Carte Menu)

Day 2

05h00 - Meet for Coffee & home made rusks on the balcony of the Lapa area

Birding in the Wetland Park with a qualified guide

return to the Lodge for breakfast between 07h30 and 10h00 - Breakfast at leisure in the Indaba Restaurant

 Spend the rest of the day at leisure but do not miss out on the Hippo & Crocodile Boat Safari on Lake St. Lucia - 16h00 for a 2 hours sundowner booze cruise

Other daytime leisure options are:

Self-guided nature trails  

Rock, surf or Lake fishing

Horse riding on the beaches of St. Lucia.

Sunbathe on one of 2 local swimming beaches

Try your hand at some fly-fishing at Cape Vidal

Snorkeling self-drive or join a tour to Cape Vidal

Whale watching in St. Lucia off the coast of the warm Indian Ocean during the winter months. 

Turtle tours during November, December and part of January (weather and tides permitting) to view Giant Leatherback turtles at Cape Vidal or St. Lucia returning to lay their eggs on the beaches where they were born.

Birding in and around St. Lucia - a variety of habitats i.e. wetlands, grasslands, sand and tropical forests. Seasands Lodge is proud of our membership of Birdlife South Africa and part of the Zululand birding route.

19h00 - Dinner at the in-house Indaba Restaurant - A-La-Carte Menu. 

08h30 Night drive into the Eastern Shores of the St. Lucia Wetland Park

Return to the Lodge at appr. 11h00

Next morning - 07h30 to 10h00 Breakfast at leisure in the Indaba Restaurant

After breakfast visit the Crocodile research centre or stroll on the beach. Another option is to do some of the self-guided walking trails in the Park.
